Women’s Rugby’s Gamboa Named 2024-25 MA Sorensen Award Nominee

WEST POINT, N.Y. – Army West Point women's rugby senior Emma Gamboa was named one of this year's 16 MA Sorensen Award nominees. The award is presented annually to the top women's collegiate rugby player in the nation.
The award, in its tenth year this year, is named after MaryAnn (MA) Sorensen, a groundbreaking rugby player who played in three Rugby World Cups and won the title with the USA in 1991.
The listed nominees can be voted for by fans to help the Selection Panel choose the finalists for the 2024-25 season. The Selection Committee will then choose the winner from the list of finalists.
Gamboa, a native of Landing, N.J., was a key piece of Army's lineup this season. With her veteran leadership on the pitch, Army put up a 6-2 record in the regular season before falling 19-26 to eventual 2024 NIRA Champion Harvard in the semifinals.
Voting for the award will be open through April 7 here.
