Women’s Rugby Splits Day at Chargers 7s Tournament

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Army West Point women's rugby took on its second tournament of the 2025 7s season on Saturday as the team competed in the Chargers 7s Tournament hosted by New Haven. The Black Knights played AIC, New Haven, and Sacred Heart.
Army first defeated AIC with 29 points on tries from Kately Woenker, Sophia Linder, Emily Steen, Emily Vizcarra, and Taimane Fiatoa. Vizcarra served as Army's kicker and made good on two conversions in the team's first match of the day.
The Black Knights then took on the Chargers and defeated the host team 17-7 with tried from Gwen Gilchrest, Reaghan King, and Emily Vizcarra. Vizcarra added another completed conversion to her tally for the day to bring Army to its 17 total points for the game.
Army played Sacred Heart twice in the tournament, first playing the Pioneers in pool play where Army fell 21-19. Steen notched two tries in the contest along with a third from Katelyn Woenker. Vizcarra made good on two conversion attempts in the matchup.
The Black Knights faced off with the Pioneers once more and fell 31-5 in their second game of the day against Sacred Heart with Linder logging Army's lone try.
