Sprint Football Opens 2025 Season with Win at Chestnut Hill College

Juniors Kyle West and JP Ross combined for three touchdowns in the game. Ross recorded one receiving touchdown for 8-yds and one rushing for 5-yds to lead all players.
Army started the game strong forcing Chestnut Hill to three plays for -10 yards on their opening drive. The Black Knights scored on their first drive of the season with four plays for 24 yards to open the scoring. The Black Knights took a 7-0 lead at the end of the first quarter, but the Griffins outscored Army 14-7 in the second quarter to make it a 14-14 game at half.
In the second half, West was pushed in for a one-yard gain and touchdown at 4:48 left in the half. Coming out of the halftime break, the Black Knights started with the ball, which results in seven more points off a five-yard rushing touchdown from Ross and an extra point from sophomore Nicholas Cueto.
The Black Knights added to their total off two Cueto field goals from 42 and 35 yards to make it 24-14 going into the final quarter. Chestnut Hill added another touchdown to make it 27-21 early in the fourth quarter. The Black Knight defense held strong especially in the final seconds of the game with junior Trey Batson sacking the Griffins quarterback to secure the game for the Black Knights on fourth and 10 at the Army 25.
Army will look to improve to 2-0 on the season on Oct. 3 at Shea Stadium for the home opener against Molloy.
