Sprint Football Earns Shutout against Penn en Route to Remaining Undefeated
October 02, 2026 | Sprint Football
PHILADELPHIA, Pa. — Army West Point sprint football remained unbeaten and recorded its first shutout of the 2026 season with a dominant 24-0 victory over Penn (1-2) Friday night at Franklin Field. The Black Knights improved to 3-0 on the year after controlling every phase of the game, out gaining the Quakers 410-119 and holding Penn to just nine first downs.
Army's defense set the tone from the opening kickoff, forcing a punt on Penn's first possession and never allowing the Quakers to find an offensive rhythm. The Black Knights held Penn scoreless and limited the Quakers to just 33 passing yards and 86 rushing yards while allowing only two third-down conversions on 12 attempts.
After coming away empty on a lengthy opening drive that reached the Penn 9-yard line, Army broke through late in the first quarter. Senior quarterback Kyle West connected with sophomore wide receiver Marek Arbogast on a 54-yard touchdown pass with 1:52 remaining in the period to give the Black Knights a 7-0 advantage. The scoring drive covered 77 yards in just five plays.
The Black Knights took that lead into halftime before putting the game away with a pair of sustained third-quarter possessions. Army opened the second half with a 12-play, 65-yard march that consumed 5:23 and ended with a three-yard touchdown run by senior running back JP Ross. Later in the quarter, Army engineered another methodical drive, covering 58 yards in 14 plays before junior kicker Nicholas Cueto drilled a 31-yard field goal to extend the lead to 17-0.
Army put the finishing touches on the shutout early in the fourth quarter. A drive that began late in the third quarter culminated in a one-yard touchdown rush by sophomore running back Doug Jarvie with 11:10 remaining, capping a 10-play, 70-yard possession and pushing the Black Knights ahead 24-0.
The Black Knights rushed for 238 yards on 55 attempts and controlled possession for 34:25. Gabriel Bolivar led all rushers with 122 yards on 17 carries, averaging 7.2 yards per attempt. Ross added 97 yards and a touchdown on 20 carries, while Jarvie contributed 22 yards and a score.
West finished 12-of-19 passing for 134 yards and a touchdown, while Max Sinkovic completed all three of his pass attempts for 38 yards in relief. Arbogast led Army receivers with four catches for 74 yards and a touchdown, highlighted by his 54-yard scoring reception. Alexander Przekora added three catches for 31 yards, while John Charette hauled in two receptions for 21 yards.
Defensively, Tyrus Carter paced the Black Knights with eight tackles and a quarterback hurry. Reed Hisle added seven tackles, including 1.5 tackles for loss, while Jaret Bosarge and Drew Waldron each recorded six stops. JC Romo totaled four tackles and two pass breakups as Army registered four pass breakups overall and held Penn scoreless on its lone red-zone opportunity.
Cueto was perfect on the night, converting all three extra-point attempts and his lone field-goal try. Senior punter Alex Perine averaged 40.3 yards on three punts and handled kickoff duties, helping Army consistently win the field-position battle throughout the contest.
