Baseball Heads to Clemson for 2026 Opening Weekend

Game Notes

CLEMSON, S.C. – Army West Point baseball heads to Clemson to open the 2026 season with a three-game series.

The Black Knights and Tigers will open the series with a 4:00 p.m. opening day matchup on Friday, before a 2:00 p.m. Game 2 on Saturday and a 12:00 p.m. series finale on Sunday.

All three games for Doug Kingsmore Stadium will be streamed on ACC Network Extra. A TV Provider login is necessary to access the stream.

2026 Season Outlook

• The Black Knights bring 38 players into 2026, with 25 returners and 13 newcomers, all freshmen. Army lost 11 players from 2025 to graduation.
• Of Army's top nine position players from a season ago, it returns seven. C/INF Coleson Titus and RHP/INF Justin Lehman serve as the two departing position player starters.
• Army brings back RHP Andrew Berg from last season's starting rotation but loses Lehman.
• Head coach Chris Tracz returns to Army for year four, as does associate head coach Mike Cole. Assistant Coach John Sheehan returns for his third year, and assistant coach Dylan Hoy enters his first season on staff, after previously serving as a graduate assistant for a Louisville team that reached the 2025 College World Series.

Notes and Storylines

• Army has won four consecutive season-opening games, as well as six of its last seven season openers dating back to 2019.
• The Black Knights beat North Alabama to open 2025 and Monmouth to begin 2024.
• A rivalry win over Air Force commenced 2023 in style, a year after taking down Richmond in 2022.
• Army last opened the season with a power conference foe in 2020, defeating No. 15 Duke in Durham, 2-1.
• The Black Knights are seeking their first power conference win since defeating Pitt in 2022, and their first ranked victory since the Duke win in 2020.
• Army's most recent series win over a power conference team was at Maryland in 2018.
• Each of Army's first nine games in 2026 will take place in the Carolinas.
• Seniors Chris Barr and William Parker will serve as 2026 team captains, after spending 2025 in the same role together alongside then-senior Coleson Titus.
• Five Black Knights earned 2026 Preseason All-Patriot League honors, more than any other team in the conference. Thomas Schreck was also named Preseason Defensive Player of the Year.

• Army West Point baseball alum Derek Berg has been selected to Pittsburgh Pirates major league spring training as a non-roster invitee.
• Berg enters his second full season in the Pirates' minor league system. A season ago, the Class of 2024 graduate appeared for Single-A Bradenton, High-A Greensboro and finished the year with Double-A Altoona.
• In 2024, Berg was selected by the Pirates in the 10th Round with the No. 294 overall pick in the Major League Baseball Draft, becoming the 21st West Point graduate to be selected in the MLB Draft.

Next Up

After the Clemson series, the Black Knights will travel back to the Palmetto State to face South Carolina, Air Force and The Citadel on February 20-22. The first two games of the weekend will be held at Founders Park at South Carolina, before the weekend finale at The Citadel.
