Baseball’s Josiah Overbeek Named to Baseball America’s Freshman of the Year Watch List

DURHAM, N.C. – Army West Point Baseball's Josiah Overbeek has been named the watch list for Baseball America's College Freshman of the Year award.
The Weatherford, Texas native is one of 15 players on the list.
Overbeek has flashed at both the plate and on the mound this season. He currently holds the team-high in batting average (.292), OPS (1.176) and home runs (7). In addition, he has recorded a team-high three saves in 2026 over seven relief pitching appearances, including the save in Army's star-series clinching win over Navy on March 29. He also leads the Patriot League in slugging percentage (.652), on-base percentage (.523), and walks drawn (31), while his home run total to date is tied for the league-high.
The two-way player was named both the Patriot League Player and Rookie of the Week on March 2, earned John Olerud Two-Way Player of the Week accolades on March 3 and was named to the John Olerud Two-Way Player of the Year Watch List on March 4.
Army has won eight of its past nine games, scoring 10 or more runs in five of those contests.
