No. 15 Men’s Lacrosse Sings Second for Fourth Consecutive Season with 14-9 Win Over Navy

WEST POINT, N.Y. – The storied Army-Navy rivalry returned to Michie Stadium on Saturday as the No. 15-ranked Army West Point men's lacrosse team (9-3, 4-2 Patriot League) took on the Navy Midshipmen (7-5, 3-3 Patriot League) for the latest rendition of the Army-Navy Men's Lacrosse Star Game as part of the Star Series, presented by USAA.
The 106th clash between the service academy rivals saw Army claim its 40th all-time win over the Midshipmen, giving the Army its fourth straight win in the historic matchup. The win in front of their home crowd gave Army its second straight win and 19th all-time win over the Mids at West Point.
Army put on a show in front of the largest crowd at an NCAA men's lacrosse game at West Point in program history and the largest single-game crowd at an NCAA men's lacrosse game this season as 15,156 people made the trip to Michie Stadium to take in the service academy showdown.
Evan Plunkett paced the Black Knights' offense with six points on three goals and three assists, topping his five-point performance in the Black Knights' win over Navy at Michie Stadium on April 13, 2024.
Hill Plunkett recorded five points on a game-high four goals and an assist, followed by Brayden Fountain who earned four points from a trio of goals and an assist to secure the third hat trick of the day for Army.
Sean Byrne stood in goal for Army, recording 13 saves to total 38 career saves against Navy, advancing to 3-0 over the service academy rival.

On a sunny Saturday afternoon at Michie Stadium, the next chapter of the historic Army-Navy rivalry lay in the balance of a much-anticipated showdown.
The Mids opened the scoring 49 seconds into play, jumping out to a 1-0 lead for the second year in a row.
Army responded quickly in front of its home crowd as Hill Plunkett scored back-to-back goals for the Black Knights with assists for Gunnar Fellows and Brayden Fountain to give Army the early advantage just over four minutes into Saturday's matchup.
Navy tied the score with a goal of their own 52 seconds later before taking the lead once more with their second goal of the game with 8:20 left on the clock in the first quarter.
Army displayed its resilience as a laser from Brayden Fountain tied the score at the seven-minute mark with three goals apiece.
With just under two minutes left to play in the first quarter, Gus Bell found the back of the net with the assist from Tyler Clark to give Army a 4-3 lead.
Both service academies took shots in the closing seconds of the first quarter, but the dueling defenses held strong to keep the score at 4-3 through the end of the first quarter.
The Black Knights opened the second quarter looking to capitalize on their momentum from the closing minutes of the first quarter.
Evan Plunkett picked up where the offense left off, giving the Black Knights their first two-goal lead of the game with an unassisted goal two minutes and 15 seconds into the second quarter for his ninth career goal against the Mids and first goal of the afternoon.
With 4:42 elapsed off the clock in the second, Hill Plunkett completed a pass from Fellows as he fired a shot that skipped past Navy's goaltender to secure his hat trick and give the Black Knights a three-goal lead.
At the halfway point of the second quarter, Fellows then scored his first goal of the day, earning his third point of the afternoon and marking five straight goals for the Black Knights.
The Mids responded quickly with a goal of their own just over a minute later to shorten Army's advantage to 7-4.
The rivals fought back and forth through the second half of the second quarter, but a defensive showdown between the two powerhouses maintained Army's three goal advantage through the halftime whistle.
