Michie Stadium Preserved by USAA Fan Enhancements for 2026 Football Season

WEST POINT, N.Y. - Army West Point Athletics has implemented a number of new fan enhancements with the opening of the new East Stands of Michie Stadium preserved by USAA, the iconic home of the Army Black Knights football team. The enhancements, based on post-game survey feedback from fans, are geared to extending the overall fan experience and ensuring the safety and security of all attendees during ticket events and games.
"We are extremely pleased with these upgrades and our new partnership with USAA," said Tom Theodorakis, Army West Point Athletic Association director of athletics. "Each of the upgrades is an important element to the game day experience and collectively they support our Fruits of Victory Strategic Plan in engaging and furthering relationships with our fans."
Concessions
Fans will enjoy six new concession locations with the opening of the East Stands more than doubling the number of points of sale. All locations will be cash-less thus reducing each transaction time giving fans more time to enjoy the games. Click here for a map of locations.
Gift Shop
The Army West Point Athletics Gift Shop, managed by Fanatics, will open a new 900 square foot location in Victory Plaza on the ground level of the East Stands. This location will have a much larger inventory of fan favorites than the current West side locations have. This will be a must visit location for all fans on game day.
Hall of Fame
The Army Athletic Hall of Fame is moving from the Kenna Hall of Sports (Kimsey Athletic Center) to a new dedicated space in Victory Plaza on the ground level of the East Stands. Fans will enjoy viewing new digital information about each Hall of Famer as well as experience many other historical awards and records of Army athletics.
Enhanced Cell Service
Army West Point Athletics and the United States Military Academy Office of the Chief Information Officer have worked tirelessly to provided upgraded cellular coverage, speed, and capability to the Army Athletics experience. Verizon Wireless, AT&T, and T-Mobile have performed significant upgrades to the equipment aligning with the brand-new East Stands and Michie Preservation project.
Open Gate
Army West Point Athletics is implementing new technology at the Michie Stadium gates. The OPENGATE security system combines portability, advanced detection, and high throughput to provide a flexible, efficient, and reliable solution for the security team and the fan experience. The system is wire-free, freestanding-pillars, rapid setup, and comprehensive threat detection to provide safety and smooth pedestrian flow
Clear Bag Policy
Army West Point Athletics is introducing a Clear Bag Policy designed to streamline the entry process, allowing fans to enjoy the event with minimal hassle and delay at the entrances while maintaining a secure environment.
The policy stipulates that only clear plastic bags, adhering to specific size requirements, are permitted inside the stadium. The largest acceptable size for these bags is 12 inches by 12 inches by 6 inches. Smaller wristlets, measuring up to 6.5 inches by 4.5 inches, are also allowed. It is essential for attendees to familiarize themselves with these guidelines prior to event day to avoid any inconvenience at the security checkpoints.
This policy restricts the type of bags that guests can bring into the venue, ensuring all contents are visible to security staff.

Parking Lot Numbering
In an effort to enhance the experience of donors, the parking spaces in various lots have been painted with Row and Space numbers. This will eliminate the need for the previously used signs.
Stadium Section, Row and Seat Numbering
With the new renovations in the stadium also comes a new seating layout! The sections have been adjusted and renumbered, and the rows are now numerical rather than alphabetical. These updates are designed to create a seamless game day experience at Michie Stadium.
Updated section signage will be in place throughout the stadium to help fans locate their seats.
Fans are encouraged to review their mobile tickets before arriving at Michie Stadium and familiarize themselves with their new seating location.
Michie Stadium preserved by USAA, built in 1924 and named for Dennis Mahan Michie, has been the home of Army football for a century. The Preservation Project, a donor-funded project between Army West Point Athletic Association, the West Point Association of Graduates and the United States Military Academy, modernized the East Stands, originally constructed in 1962, which lagged behind contemporary athletic venues in amenities and accessibility. The project replaces the old structure with a 160,000-square-foot facility featuring premium seating, hospitality options, upgraded concessions, a new fan store, and improved accessibility.
The Army Football season kicks off Saturday September 5 against Bryant University. Kick-off is scheduled for 12:00 pm. Fans can purchase tickets, read about this year's team and more at goarmywestpoint.com or via the Army West Point Athletics App.
