August 27, 2026 | Women's Soccer
WEST POINT, N.Y. — Army West Point women's soccer fell to Monmouth, 3-0, Thursday night at Malek Stadium at Clinton Field. Ashley Lavrich scored twice for the Hawks, including a first-half goal and a second-half penalty kick, and Maddie DeMaio added a second-half insurance goal as Monmouth improved to 2-1-1 on the season, while Army dropped to 2-3-0.
After the game, Army women's soccer head coach Tracy Chao was optimistic about how her team responded in the second half.
Army had an early look at the game's first goal, testing Monmouth keeper Tallulah Miller in the 11th minute on a shot by Sabrina Rogers that was turned away. The Black Knights created a handful of quality chances in the opening half, including a Sophia Henry attempt from the top of the box, before Monmouth's Lavrich broke through in the 29th minute off an assist from Saar van der Boom to make it 1-0.
Monmouth added a penalty-kick goal from Lavrich early in the second half and a third goal from Maddie DeMaio in the 70th minute, but Army continued to generate opportunities throughout, finishing with 11 shots on the game, including four on frame from Rogers (2), Kamryn McWhinney (1), and Blanca Webb (1).
McWhinney, the freshman, forced another save late in the second half, and Grace Pohlidal and Rena Shim each had late looks in the final 10 minutes as Army pushed for a response.
Karalyn Dail made two saves in net across the full 90 minutes.
