Women’s Soccer Begins Final Patriot League Stretch

WEST POINT, N.Y. – The Army West Point women's soccer team plays the first of two home Patriot League contests on Wednesday night when it welcomes Colgate to Clinton Field. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. and the match can be seen live on the Patriot League Network.
The Black Knights are currently fifth in the Patriot League standings with eight points after falling on the road to Loyola by a 1-0 final on Saturday night in Baltimore. Three conference games remain in the regular season, including the two home contests this week against Colgate on Wednesday night and Boston University on Saturday. The top six teams qualify for the Patriot League Tournament and the top two receive byes into the semifinal round. Only six points separate eight teams from the second through ninth positions in the standings.
As it stands, Army is 4-9-2 with a 2-2-2 conference record entering the critical tilt with the Raiders. In their last home appearance, senior Candace Stewart netted her first goal of the season in a 1-1 draw against American.
Senior Katie Holder leads Army in scoring with 14 points on five goals and four assists. Holder has three game-winning goals this season and has scored four of her goals during Patriot League play. Sophomore forward Clare Shea has scored twice and registered three assists for seven points, including two goals and an assist in her last four conference matches. In goal, Jordan Cassalia has started 14 matches and owns a 1.57 goals-against average. Cassalia saved a penalty kick in the loss at Loyola.
Colgate enters Wednesday's meeting following a 3-1 loss to Navy and a scoreless non-conference draw with Cornell. Wednesday marks the third consecutive road game for the Raiders, who are 4-8-2 overall and 2-3-1 in the Patriot League. Colgate has seven points in the conference standings and is alone in sixth in the playoff race.
Sarah Coy and Emily Crichlow each have three goals for the Raiders this season, while Catherine Williams and Jenna Raepple have added two goals apiece. Coy and Williams both have two assists, along with Lauren D'Amico. In net, Colgate has relied solely on Erin Cummings, who has a 1.51 goals-against average and 66 saves in 2015.
