Cadets Drop Road Tilt to Brown

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Army West Point men's basketball team was defeated by Brown, 86-66, on the final day of the Brown Bears Tip-Off Classic on Sunday afternoon at the Pizzitola Sports Center.
Tommy Funk paced the Black Knights offensively with 15 points and five assists. He was one of three Cadets to reach double-digit scoring as Matt Wilson totaled 14 points on 7-of-12 shooting and Aaron Duhart added 13, one shy of his career high, in the scoring column.
After averaging 15.7 points and 7.3 rebounds per game while shooting 73 percent from the field over the three-day weekend, Wilson was named to the all-tournament team.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- It was a slow start offensively from Army and Brown and it was not until the 14:49 mark that one side reached double-figures in the scoring column.
- Following a Wilson layup, the Cadets trailed by just two, 22-20, but the Bears caught fire offensively. Over the final 7:11 of the first half, Brown went on a 24-6 run while shooting 7-for-8 from the field and burying 5-of-6 tries from deep.
- The Bears carried a, 46-26, lead into the new half and kept their foot on the gas, never allowing the Black Knights to trim the deficit to fewer than 20 points over the final 20 minutes of play. Both teams putting up 40 second-half points, while Brown connected on 53 percent of its shot attempts and got to the foul line 18 times.
