Black Knights Gear up for NCAA Gymnastics

WEST POINT, N.Y. – Nine Black Knights will head to Chicago, Ill., in preparation for the NCAA Championships hosted at the UIC Pavilion April 20-21.

The banquet will be held on Thursday night with competition beginning the following day.

Army's nine competitors will participate in the first session on Friday beginning at 2 p.m. ET. Saturday's finals are slated for 6 p.m. Those who advanced will be announced Friday night after the completion of the two qualifying sessions.

It will be the third year in a row, nine members of the Army West Point gymnastics team have solidified their spots as individual qualifiers for the NCAA Championships.

The top-three individual finishers in all-around and on each event during each session, who are not already qualified on the team (top three teams qualify) or as an all-around competitor, will advance to Saturday's finals round to begin at 6 p.m.

This is the fifth time in the last seven years that the No. 15 Black Knights have sent nine qualifiers to the championships.

The Black Knights return a wealth of their roster to the NCAA Championships with Seth Cannon and Nathan Goff leading the way. The pair advanced to the finals round on Saturday a year ago. Cole Casanova makes his return to NCAAs as an All-Around qualifier.

Ranked first among the 12 qualifying field is Oklahoma (414.713) along with Minnesota (409.463), Michigan (408.588), Illinois (408.463), Ohio State (408.350) and Stanford (407.775) rounding out the top in rounding out the top six teams.

The Black Knights competed against three of the 12-team field in 2018 including Penn State, Air Force and Navy. Â Â
