BROOKLYN, N.Y. – The Army West Point men's basketball team had its two-game win streak end in a 90-65 setback to the LIU Sharks on Sunday afternoon.
GAME SUMMARY
LIU used the 3-point ball to power its offense. The Sharks made 16 3-pointers, including 12 in the first half as part of a significant first-half run.
Jalen Rucker started the game connecting on his first three 3-pointers as part of fast-paced opening four minutes by both teams. Rucker's third 3-pointer gave the Black Knights an 11-10 lead. However, LIU outscored Army, 22-5, over the next five minutes. The Sharks went into halftime with a 56-33 lead and opened the second half with an 11-2 run to further extend their lead while maintaining a double-digit lead for the remainder of the game.
The Black Knights did receive a spark off the bench from Kwabena Davis, AJ Allenspach, and Abe Johnson as the bench outscored their counterparts, 38-14, for the game.
CADETS CAPSULES
- Josh Caldwell scored a team-high 11 points to be in double figures for the second straight game.
- Kwabena Davis scored a season-high 10 points and had career-highs in rebounds with four and in steals with two.
- AJ Allenspach had career-highs with 10 rebounds and seven points.
- Aaron Duhart had a team-high five assists.
- Jalen Rucker scored nine points and grabbed six rebounds,
- Abe Johnson netted nine points which are a career-best.
