WEST POINT, N.Y. – Nine different Black Knights scored, led by a career-high six goals by Julia Gorajek, as Army eased to a 21-10 victory over the Holy Cross Crusaders for its seventh consecutive win on Saturday.
GAME SUMMARY
Army took over the game powered by a 12-2 run in the first half. The game was tied at 2-2 with two minutes left in the first quarter when the Black Knights reeled off four straight goals 1:20. Carleigh Armstrong scored a pair of goals for a 4-2 lead,followed by a pair from Julia Gorajek. The Black Knights went into the second quarter leading 6-3 after the Crusaders added a goal with 18 seconds left in the first.
Army outscored Holy Cross, 8-1, in the second quarter to seize the momentum. Five different Black Knights scored in the quarter. Jolie Riedell scored early in the quarter to kickstart a 5-0 run. Kathleen Sullivan, Riedell, Gorajek, and Armstrong gave Army a commanding 11-3 lead. Riedell netted her hat-trick in the quarter for a 12-4 lead with four minutes left. Olivia Carter found the back of the net and Gorajek netted again to close out the half.
The Black Knights led 17-6 after three quarters, and after Holy Cross cut the lead to 18-10 late in the fourth quarter, Army finished the game strong with three straight goals from Marissa Massey, Madison Warne, and Gabby Mirak.
