Men's Rugby Has Huge Day, Advances to Semifinals of CRAA Men’s Premier 7s College Rugby Championships

HOUSTON – The Army West Point men's rugby team had a big three win day to advance to the semifinals of the CRAA Men's Premier 7s College Rugby Championships.
"We didn't come out looking to out-athlete or even out-rugby our competitors, but to out-team them," Gannon Conrad said. "I am so proud to be with a group of men that is culture based, and that is the key to our success. The only thing that keeps a team moving forward after a 4 game day is love for those standing next to you."
In the first match of the day Army beat Texas A&M by rattling off 20 unanswered points after falling down 5-0 in the first minute.

In the second match of the day, Army fell to Air Force 24-19 in a back and forth affair.

Lucas Pattinson said "it took us a little while to find our rhythm, but once we did, we started to play some really good 7s. I'm super proud of thr boys being able to come back from a pretty rough lose to Air Force and set ourselves up great for day two."
The third match of the day was against Central Washington. Needing a win to secure a bid in the quarterfinals later in the night, the Black Knights came up clutch en route to a 21-0 win.

After clinching the top spot in the ground, Army earned a fourth game of the day. A quarterfinal match against Arizona.
Army scored twice early to go up 14-7 but in the waning seconds of the game, Arizona got a try and conversion to send the game to sudden death overtime where Pat Oglesbee came through clutch with a huge try to send Army to the semifinals where they will face Lindenwood.
