GAME NOTES
LAST TIME OUT
The Army West Point softball team recently initiated conference play by hosting the no. 24 ranked and Patriot League front-runner, Boston University.
The Black Knights were defeated in all three contests; 9-3, 9-0, and 3-0.
In the first game, Kayla Edwards led the hitting charge, going two-for-four with one run. Sam Bocis, Mikayla Klepfer, and Ellie Caldwell all contributed an RBI. The Black Knights utilized three pitchers; Amanda Eaglin, Katelyn Flanders, and Breanna Izzo. Flanders was attributed with the loss.
In the second game, the Black Knights failed to produce a run or a hit due to excellent pitching from Boston's eventual Patriot League pitcher of the week, Kasey Ricard. Once again, Army used three pitchers; Olivia Farris, Breanna Izzo, and Lauren Levendoski. Farris was charged with the loss.
In the final game, the Black Knights extended the Terriers to nine innings, thanks to exceptional pitching from Amanda Eaglin. The sophomore held the opposition scoreless through eight innings, allowing only three walks and recording four strikeouts. Army's leadoff hitter Parker Llantero had an impressive hitting performance, going two-for-three. Edwards, Ashton White, and Mia Bonsignore each contributed a hit in the 3-0 loss.
