Men's Basketball Set to Host George Washington for Education Day

WEST POINT, N.Y. — Army West Point men's basketball (3-6) aims to earn a third-straight win on Tuesday morning, taking on the George Washington University Revolutionaries (6-2).
This is the 16th matchup between the two programs, with George Washington holding a 10-5 series lead. Army and George Washington faced off last season in Washington D.C., on Dec. 13, 2024, with the Revolutionaries taking a 75-60 win over the Black Knights. With a win, Army would earn its first win over GW since the 1970-71 season.
The game inside Christl Arena, which will serve as Army's annual Education Day game, is set for an 11 a.m. ET first tip, with the game also streaming live on ESPN+ and the Army Sports Network.
ARMY STORYLINES:
WHAT HAPPENED LAST GAME – Army returned to Christl Arena on Saturday and earned a gritty and hard-fought overtime win over the Manhattan University Jaspers. With the win, the Black Knights snapped the seven-game winning streak the Jaspers had held over them, gaining their first win over Manhattan since 1989.
CHEF (RYAN) CURRY – Junior guard Ryan Curry returns for his third season with the Black Knights, currently averaging a team-high 13.4 points a game while adding a team-high 4.4 assists a game. The junior has scored in double digits for the past seven games. The junior scored a senior-best 26 points with a career-high eight rebounds and season-best seven assists against Manhattan. Curry also scored 16 points and had eight rebounds against Marist. He finished with 14 points against FDU. He scored 13 points while adding a game-high six assists at Cornell. The junior earned a team-high 11 points against Harvard, adding four rebounds and three assists. In his first game back, the junior finished with 10 points and added seven assists plus six rebounds against St. Thomas.
RING THE BELL – Sophomore guard Jaxson Bell played a crucial role off the bench in Army's win on Saturday against Manhattan. Bell finished with a career-high 19 points, also adding career-highs in made field goals (6), made three-pointers (5) and minutes (31). In the game before, against FDU, Bell finished the game with a team-high 16 points, alongside a career-high seven rebounds, with eight points coming from the free throw line. The game on Saturday marked Bell's third double-digit performance of the young 2025-26, with Bell also finishing with 11 points in Army's matchup against Harvard on Nov. 15.
THE SIXTH MAN – Freshman guard Jackson Furman has made an immediate impact for the Black Knights, averaging 10.2 points a game off the bench while averaging 18.8 minutes a game. The plebe earned a career-high and game-high 20 points against Duke, shooting 53.8 percent from the floor and 55.5 percent from the three-point line. Furman also earned 17 points in his first collegiate game against SUNY Maritime, the most a freshman has scored in his debut in 11 seasons and the second most since 2000. He earned his first career start against Manhattan on Saturday.
JORNADO WARNING – Jorn Everson played a key role off Army's bench last season and now serves as a primary member of Army's starting lineup and currently averages 9.2 points a game. The senior had a strong showing against Cornell on the road, finishing with a career-best and game-high 24 points, while tying his career-highs in made field goals (8) and three-pointers made (4). He also had a career-high four made free throws. The game marked the second game Everson has scored 20+ points in a single game.
THE BOOGEYMAN – Sophomore forward Jacen Holloway is currently second on the team in scoring efforts for Army, currently averaging 10.3 points a game while shooting 54.0 percent from the floor. On November 18, Holloway had a career performance, earning a career-best 22 points on the road against Cornell. He also added career-highs in field goals made (9) and three-pointers made (2). His performance also marked his first 20+ point performance in his career and his third double-digit performance in the young season.
TATE ON THE BOARD – Junior forward Tate Laczkowski, the tallest player on Army's roster, serves as the biggest rebounding threat for Army. Laczkowski leads Army, averaging 5.4 rebounds a game, earning nine rebounds in his first career start versus Maritime, eight rebounds against St. Thomas and seven rebounds at Cornell, all three being team-highs. The junior earned a season-high six points in Army's loss to Harvard. In Army's first two games, he added four points and one block against Maritime and five points in a career-high 31 minutes against St. Thomas. Laczkowski tied his career-high in points on Saturday, earning nine against Manhattan.
THE WALLET – A key role player for Army, Kevin McCarthy averages 8.9 points a game. In Army's game against Maritime, the sophomore sharpshooter scored a career-high 18 points and also added career-highs in field goals made (7), three-pointers made (4), steals (3), and minutes (28). He also tied his career-high in three-pointers made against St. Thomas. He earned a career-high four assists against Duke and a season-high six rebounds at Cornell. He earned 10 points against Marist and a team-high 12 points against East Texas A&M.
DOUBLE-DOUBLE TROUBLE – Sophomore forward Joshua Eli also had a career performance against FDU on Nov. 26. Eli finished with two career-highs, 12 points and 11 rebounds. Those totals marked not only Eli's first career double-digit performance, but also his first career double-double. Eli is also the first Black Knight to earn a double-double in a single game this season.
HELD IN HIGH REGARD – Team captain, Jackson Mayo, was named USMA's Deputy Brigade Commander, the second-highest-ranked position in the Corps of Cadets, over the summer. The senior started the season scoring six points with two made three-pointers in Army's season-opener win against Maritime.

Scouting the Revolutionaries
- George Washington is 6-2 through its first eight games of the 2025-26 season. The Revolutionaries' six wins include Maine, South Florida, reigning Patriot League champion American, Old Dominion, UMBC and Middle Tennessee. Their first two losses came last week at the Cayman Islands Classic against McNeese and Murray State.
- Head coach Chris Caputo is in his fourth season with the Revolutionaries, holding a 58-48 overall record and a 1-0 record over Army.
- Rafael Castro leads the team in scoring and rebounding, averaging 15.9 points a game and 7.9 rebounds a game. He also averages a team-high 1.4 blocks a game.
- Garrett Johnson is second on the team in scoring, averaging 15.5 points a game. He also averages 4.3 rebounds a game and 1.3 assists a game.
- Bubu Benjamin plays a key defensive role for GW, earning 1.6 steals a game while also adding 10.1 points a game. Two other Revolutionaries also average double-digit scoring, Tre Dinkins (11.8 points) and Christian Jones (11.6 points), with Jones also averaging a team-high 2.8 assists a game.
