Men's Basketball Hosts Gallaudet in First-Ever Meeting

WEST POINT, N.Y. — Army West Point men's basketball (3-7) looks to add another win to its resume on Sunday, playing its third game in a row inside Christl Arena, taking on the Gallaudet University Bison (0-6, 0-2).
This will be the first-ever meeting between the two programs. The Bison are still searching for their first win this season after remaining winless through their first seven games.
The game inside Christl Arena begins at 12 p.m. ET on Sunday, December 7, and will also be streamed live on ESPN+.
ARMY STORYLINES:
WHAT HAPPENED LAST GAME – Army's two-game winning streak was snapped on Tuesday, with the George Washington Revolutionaries handing Army its third loss at Christl Arena this season, 70-84. The game marked the 16th matchup between the two programs, with George Washington now holding an 11-5 series lead. Army still remains winless over GW since the 1970-71 season.
CHEF (RYAN) CURRY – Junior guard Ryan Curry returns for his third season with the Black Knights, currently averaging a team-high 13.4 points a game while adding a team-high 4.7 assists a game. The junior has scored in double digits for the past eight games. The junior scored a season-best 26 points with a career-high eight rebounds and a season-high seven assists against Manhattan. Curry also scored 16 points and had eight rebounds against Marist. He finished with 14 points against FDU. He scored 13 points while adding a game-high six assists at Cornell. The junior earned a team-high 11 points against Harvard, adding four rebounds and three assists. In his first game back, the junior finished with 10 points and added seven assists plus six rebounds against St. Thomas.
RING THE BELL – Sophomore guard Jaxson Bell played a crucial role off the bench for Army this season, now averaging 9.2 points a game. Bell finished Tuesday with a team-high 15 points. The game before, Bell finished with a career-high 19 points, also adding career-highs in made field goals (6), made three-pointers (5) and minutes (31). Against FDU, Bell finished the game with a team-high 16 points alongside adding a career-high seven rebounds, with eight points coming from the free throw line. The game on Tuesday marked Bell's fourth double-digit performance of the young 2025-26 season, with Bell also finishing with 11 points in Army's matchup against Harvard on Nov. 15.
THE SIXTH MAN – Freshman guard Jackson Furman has made an immediate impact for the Black Knights, averaging 10.3 points a game off the bench while averaging 19.9 minutes a game. The plebe earned a career-high and game-high 20 points against Duke, shooting 53.8 percent from the floor and 55.5 percent from the three-point line. Furman also earned 17 points in his first collegiate game against SUNY Maritime, the most a freshman has scored in his debut in 11 seasons and the second most since 2000. He earned his first career start against Manhattan last Saturday and added 11 points against GW.
THE BOOGEYMAN – Sophomore forward Jacen Holloway is currently second on the team in scoring efforts for Army, currently averaging 10.3 points a game while shooting 50.6 percent from the floor. On November 18, Holloway had a career performance, earning a career-best 22 points on the road against Cornell. He also added career-highs in field goals made (9) and three-pointers made (2). His performance also marked his first 20+ point performance in his career and his third double-digit performance in the young season.
JORNADO WARNING – Jorn Everson played a key role off Army's bench last season and now serves as a primary member of Army's starting lineup and currently averages 9.0 points a game. The senior had a strong showing against Cornell on the road, finishing with a career-best and game-high 24 points, while tying his career-highs in made field goals (8) and three-pointers made (4). He also had a career-high four made free throws. The game marked the second game Everson has scored 20+ points in a single game.
TATE ON THE BOARD – Junior forward Tate Laczkowski, the tallest player on Army's roster, serves as the biggest rebounding threat for Army. Laczkowski leads Army, averaging 5.1 rebounds a game, earning nine rebounds in his first career start versus Maritime, eight rebounds against St. Thomas and seven rebounds at Cornell, all three being team-highs. The junior earned a season-high six points in Army's loss to Harvard. In Army's first two games, he added four points and one block against Maritime and five points in a career-high 31 minutes against St. Thomas. Laczkowski tied his career-high in points on Nov. 29, earning nine against Manhattan.
THE WALLET – A key role player for Army, Kevin McCarthy averages 8.6 points a game. In Army's game against Maritime, the sophomore sharpshooter scored a career-high 18 points and also added career-highs in field goals made (7), three-pointers made (4) steals (3), and minutes (28). He also tied his career-high in three-pointers made against St. Thomas. He earned a career-high four assists against Duke and a season-high six rebounds at Cornell. He earned 10 points against Marist and a team-high 12 points against East Texas A&M.
DOUBLE-DOUBLE TROUBLE – Sophomore forward Joshua Eli also had a career performance against FDU on Nov. 26. Eli finished with two career-highs, 12 points and 11 rebounds. Those totals marked not only Eli's first career double-digit performance, but also his first career double-double. Eli is also the first Black Knight to earn a double-double in a single game this season.
History with Gallaudet
- This is the first time these two programs are meeting.
Scouting the Bison
- Gallaudet is 0-7 through its first seven games of the 2025-26 season and 0-2 in United East Conference play. The Bison are still in search of their first win.
- Head coach Sekoe White is in his first year at the helm in Washington D.C., who graduated from Gallaudet in 2010, played for the Bison from 2004-07 and 2008-09.
- Joey Valencia, who has only played four games for the Bison this season, but leads in four major categories. Valencia leads the team in points a game (16.8), rebounds a game (7.3), assists a game (3.0) and blocks a game (1.0).
- JeVaughn Sargent is second on the team in scoring with 12.2 points a game while also adding 2.4 rebounds a game and 1.0 steals a game.
- Alex Ortman is the third member of the Bison roster who averages double-digits, averaging 11.9 points a game while adding 3.7 rebounds a game.
