Baseball Hosts Holy Cross for Midweek Conference Affair

WEST POINT, N.Y. – Fresh off a series win vs. Lehigh, and winners of six of nine in league play, Army West Point Baseball will host Holy Cross Wednesday at 4:00 p.m.

This game represents the lone midweek conference matchup.

The games will be streamed on ESPN+.

Notes and Storylines

» Holy Cross currently leads Army by a half game in the Patriot League standings, as the teams battle for a top two spot and the right to host a postseason series.

» Army took two of three games from Lehigh April 13-14, including a doubleheader sweep vs. the Mountain Hawks April 13. That, combined with a doubleheader split at Lehigh March 23, gives the Black Knights a 3-2 season series win. Monday's game vs. Lehigh ended a run of 14 consecutive Patriot League games that have been part of doubleheaders. The Black Knights were 9-5 across this stretch.

The Black Knights had 24 total hits in their 11-0 and 10-5 wins this weekend vs. Lehigh, scoring a combined 13 second inning runs across both games. Army's pitchers also combined for 19 strikeouts across the doubleheader.

» Army defeated Marist April 9, on a walk-off popup from William Parker that was lost in the evening lights and fell on the right side of the infield to score Chris Barr from second base with two outs.

» Justin Lehman has proven himself as one of the nation's leading two-way players, earning a spot on the John Olerud Two-Way Player of the Year Award Watch List.

In 2025, Lehman is carrying a 4.36 ERA and .247 AVG into Army's April 16 game vs. Holy Cross. The native of Fort Mill, S.C. has pitched in nine games, all starts, and hit his first home run of the season vs. Fairfield March 26.

Lehman was named the 2025 Preseason Patriot League Pitcher of the Year and was the 2024 Patriot League Pitcher of the Year.

The winner of the 2025 John Olerud Two-Way Player of the Year Award will be announced on June 17.

» Lehman can do more than just pitch and hit, he can also make plays defensively. He showed that May 14 vs. Lehigh, making a catch over the visiting dugout railing for an out, with his arm extended around a Lehigh player in the dugout to make the play. The catch was #1 on Tuesday's SportsCenter Top 10.

» Jack Quinlan was named Patriot League Player of the Week during Monday's game, after a standout performance in Sunday's doubleheader vs. Lehigh. The Long Island native went 3-for-4 in Game 1 and 3-for-5 in Game 2, totaling six RBIs across the games. He also hit a solo home run in the nightcap.

Next Up

Army concludes an eight-game homestand this weekend with a three-game series vs. Lafayette. Saturday's doubleheader Game 1 will begin at 12:00 p.m.
