Baseball’s Josiah Overbeek Named a John Olerud Two-Way Player of the Year Semifinalist

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – Army West Point Baseball's Josiah Overbeek has been named a Semifinalist for the John Olerud Two-Way Player of the Year Award by the College Baseball Foundation on Thursday.
As of April 23, Overbeek's 50 walks drawn this year leads the country. He has broken the Army freshman record for walks drawn in a season as well as the program's freshman home run record, with 12 to date in 2026.
In addition to his walk and home run clip leading the Patriot League, his on-base percentage (.529) and slugging percentage (.679) is also first in the conference.
On the mound, Overbeek has collected a team-high four saves on the year and has a 2-0 record, with a save in the star series rubber matchup vs. Navy on March 29.
Overbeek is one of 15 two-way players on this year's watch list, and one of just two freshmen.
2026 is the second consecutive year an Army player has been a semifinalist for the John Olerud Award, with Justin Lehman being named a finalist for the accolade a season.
Earlier this season, Overbeek had been named the John Olerud Two-Way Player of the Week after hitting two home runs and recording a win and a save on the mound in Army's series sweep at Queens February 27-March 1. He was also on the John Olerud Two-Way Player of the Year Watch List.
