HOW IT HAPPENED
- Monmouth sprinted out to a quick 4-0 lead after scoring a pair of runs in each of the first two innings.
- Army responded with a four-spot in the top of the third, however, to tie the game.
- A wild pitch scored Lacey Swafford for the Black Knights' first run of the game before an illegal pitch plated Maddie Kim in the following at-bat.
- Senior Alee Rashenskas drove a single to center which scored Amelia Trotter and Tyler McKinney to knot the game at four all.
- In the following inning, Army exploded four six runs to take a 10-4 advantage.
- Rookie Emily Ballesteros opened the scoring with a two-run single with the bases loaded.
- Nena Riccobini drilled her first-career home run with a three-run shot to deep center field to stretch the lead to 9-4.
- Caroline Smith helped her own cause by plating Trotter on a fielder's choice for the final run of the frame.
- Army's final run of the game came in the sixth inning when Swafford reached on an error to score Rashenskas.
- The Hawks began to rally late in the seventh inning with three straight hits with two outs.
- A ground-rule double plated their first run of the final stanza before a single to right scored the other run.
- Another double put runners on second and third for Monmouth before Army was able to record the final out of the game.
