Presbyterian Blanks Army in Game 1

Clinton, S.C. – The Army West Point baseball team ran into Presbyterian here Friday afternoon, dropping a 9-0 decision.
The Black Knights saw their host notch seven runs in the third inning to ultimately put the game out of reach. The Blue Hose added two additional runs in the seventh, before closing out the final inning and a half to secure the shutout.
Presbyterian's Brain Kehner pitched a complete game for the Blue Hose, allowing just two hits and one walk during his time on the hill. The senior earned eight strikeouts as well.
For Army, Carter Van Gytenbeek was tabbed with the loss after giving up eight hits and seven earned runs. The rookie also registered four walks, while fanning three in his 4.0 innings of work. Mike Gagliardi then came in for relief, pitching the next three inning, allowing one hit and two earned runs. The sophomore struck out two and walked four while on the mound. Joe Santoro closed out the final inning for the Cadets, retiring the Blue Hose in order.
Alex Dickerson and Trey Martin tallied Army's two hits on the day. Martin's leadoff double in the eighth was the Black Knights' lone extra base hit in the game.
