Army Welcomes Holy Cross for Weekend Series

WEST POINT, N.Y. – The Army West Point softball team welcomes the Holy Cross Crusaders to West Point for a weekend series on Saturday and Sunday at the Army Softball Complex.
The Black Knights will entertain a Patriot League opponent for the second weekend in a row, while the Crusaders are beginning league play after being the only team with a bye last weekend.
The first game will be on Saturday at 2 p.m., while a doubleheader will be played on Sunday starting at noon.

ARMY (21-9, 3-0 Patriot League)
• The Black Knights enter the series with a 67-27 all-time record against Holy Cross, the second-most wins against a single opponent in program history.
• Army is currently on a seven-game winning streak after defeating Iona 3-0 on Wednesday.
• Sophomore Ashley Yoo leads the team with 29 hits after going 7-for-9 (.778 avg.) last weekend against Colgate, including a stretch of seven straight at-bats with a base hit.
• Yoo documented Army's first four-hit game of the season in game two against the Raiders to boost her on-base percentage to a Patriot League best .494.
• Rookie Emily Ballesteros has provided the pop in the middle of the lineup for the Cadets, posting team highs in doubles (8), triples (2), extra-base hits (10), RBI (21), and is tied for the lead in multi-hit games with Yoo and Alee Rashenskas with six and multi-RBI games with Katie Ontiveros with four.
• Senior Caroline Smith has been dominant in the circle, sporting a league-best 1.87 ERA to go along with an 8-2 record with six complete games and three shutouts.
HOLY CROSS (3-15, 0-0 Patriot League)
• Holy Cross competed in the Stony Brook Invitational last weekend, opening the tournament with a 7-2 win over Brown that snapped a 12-game losing skid.
• Offensively, junior Taylor Moss leads the Crusaders with a .373 average (19-for-51), with four doubles and 13 RBI.
• Senior Emily Krisanda follows closely behind with a .368 average on a team-best 21 hits, including one of two home runs for Holy Cross in 2017.
• Sophomore Alexandra Held has shouldered the majority of the work load on the rubber, tossing 54.2 of the team's 109 innings on the year.
