Baseball Drops Series Finale at Lafayette
April 14, 2024 | Baseball
EASTON, Pa. – Army West Point Baseball dropped Sunday's series finale at Lafayette, but still came back home as series winners after taking both games in Saturday's doubleheader.
Army moves to 19-16 overall and 9-5 in the Patriot League.
A weather delay was called with two outs in the top of the third, as a lighting cell moved through the Greater Lehigh Valley region.
Derek Berg homered in the game's second at-bat, giving the Black Knights a 1-0 lead in the opening frame.
However, the Leopards would tie the contest in the second and take a permanent lead in the third.
Coleson Titus cut into the deficit with a fifth inning bases-loaded walk. However, the visiting club left the bases stranded for the score to remain 7-2, and left a pair of runners in scoring position an inning later.
Starting pitcher Steven Graver took the loss, tossing three innings. Bryce Brownlee, Joe Valchar and Joel Rubin each made appearances out of the bullpen.

2-for-4: Berg and Chris Barr each went 2-for-4.
2: Sam Ruta drew two walks.
10: Army's pitchers combined for 10 strikeouts.
