Baseball Drops Battle at Air Force Saturday

USAFA, Colo. – Army West Point Baseball couldn't capitalize on a seven-run third inning Saturday at the Air Force Falcons and dropped a 14-7 game at Erdle Field.

The Falcons also clinch the three-game series with Saturday's result in Colorado Springs.

Air Force drew first blood in the second inning, but the Black Knights responded with seven runs a frame later to go ahead 7-1.

Thomas Schreck opened the inning with a double to left field, his second double that inning. After Justin Lehman drove in Schreck on a fielder's choice, Jack Quinlan recorded an RBI single to give Army the lead, and Paul Andrzejewski reached on an error to score Lehman.

John McKillop recorded his first career RBIs on a single through the right side, which was followed by Schreck bookending the frame with a two-run double to left.

Robbie Penswick started for Army and provided 2.1 innings. Mark Abell struck out three batters across 2.1 frames in relief, and took the decision.

Kaden Youmans recorded four strikeouts over 2.2 innings, before Kevin Reavey recorded the final two outs for Army.

By the Numbers

2-for-3: Schreck with 2-for-3 with a pair of doubles and RBIs; he also drew a walk.

3-for-4: McKillop was 3-for-4 with a two-RBI double.

Black Knight Notes

Penswick made his first career start on the mound.

Coleson Titus started at third base for the first time in his career.

John McKillop made his first career start Saturday, at the DH spot.

Army batted around for the second game in a row, sending 11 batters to the plate in the third inning.
