WEST POINT, N.Y. – Army West Point Men's Rugby will celebrate Senior Day Saturday vs. Arizona. The fixture also serves as Army's regular season home finale, with two matches left on the spring slate after this weekend.
Saturday's match kicks off at 12:00 p.m. at Shea Stadium, with the Senior Day ceremony proceeding.
The Black Knights improved to 9-1 across their 2024-25 campaign with an emphatic, high-octane 53-17 win over Canadian rival Guelph last Saturday. Dakoda Wagner and Isaac Gamboa led Army with a pair of tries each, with Gamboa adding a conversion to pace the squad with 12 points.
Howie Heller currently leads in the team in points with 62, by way of 19 conversions, five penalty kicks and five tries. Meanwhile, Benji Kemp's nine tries currently lead Army.
YouTube Live will carry Saturday's stream.
Coach's Corner
"We are looking forward to the test ahead against a very strong Arizona team. We were pleased with many aspects of our performance last Saturday, but feel we can and must improve in a number of areas we've targeted, and we are committed to finding a new best that we will need to be capable of earning a victory Saturday," said head coach Matt Sherman.
Cadets' Corner
"Arizona will be an awesome test. It's another opportunity to build this team and sharpen the tip of the spear. We're excited to get after it Saturday," said firstie Elijah Manges.
"This is going to be a good test match to see again how far we have come this spring. I know many of the seniors are excited for senior day and are ready to give their best effort towards a win," said fellow senior Nathan Gould.
"Saturday is a great opportunity for the brothers to improve as we continue our climb this spring. Arizona is a strong, physical team, and this will be a great test. Last year, we fell short of our standard, but now it's time to move forward and pursue our new best." said junior George Engels.
"We're excited to be back against a solid Arizona team that we fell short against last year. The focus for us is suffocating defense and imposing our dominance on offense. The boys are ready for a good match on Saturday," said sophomore Landin Jacon-Duffy.
