Hockey Falls in Game Two of AHA Quarterfinals to Set Up Elimination Game Three

NIAGARA, NY - Army West Point hockey (15-7-2, 14-10-2 Atlantic Hockey America) fell by a score of 4-3 in game two of the AHA Quarterfinals against Niagara (17-15-3, 15-9-2 Atlantic Hockey America) from Dwyer Arena on Saturday night.
The Purple Eagles forced a decisive game three with the win as puck drop is set for 5:00 p.m. on Sunday to decide the series.
Mac Gadowsky had a pair of goals in the game along with an assist on Army's third goal from Ben Ivey, as the two have combined for five goals so far in the series.
JJ Cataldo made 25 saves for the Black Knights as Pierce Charleson made 36 stops to earn the win for the Purple Eagles.
Mirroring game one of the series, Niagara got the opening goal in the first period and took a 1-0 lead into the first intermission.
Army responded in the fashion as game one, tying the game early on in the second period. Joey Baez intercepted an errant pass in the Niagara defensive zone, before laying off the Mac Gadowsky who deked his defender before beating Pierce Charleson at his near post for his second goal of the series.
Niagara went back ahead with a power play goal from Jay Ahearn at the 11:31 mark, giving the Purple Eagles another 2-1 advantage heading into a third period.
The Purple Eagles flipped the script this time, securing their first multi-goal advantage of the series with an even strength tally 2:30 into the third.
Army had a chance back in just a minute later, getting its second power play of the night, but Grayson Dietrich netted a shorthanded goal to put the game at 4-1 with 15:52 remaining.
Gadowsky got one back with 4:40 remaining, taking the puck from his own blue line into the Niagara defensive zone and whistling another pinpoint shot past Charleson.
Army pulled Cataldo soon after as the clock eventually ticked down to under 30 seconds. Army got another goal back with 14 seconds remaining as Ben Ivey notched his second of the series with Gadowsky and Pierce Patterson assisting.
Army had one last chance after a late faceoff win from Barron Woodring, but Nils Forselius saw his shot saved in the final second.
Army outshot Niagara 39-29 for the game but were unable to lead at any point for the second straight night as the series is now tied at one gam apiece.
