Barr Hits for Cycle, Baseball Rolls Over Wagner
April 14, 2026 | Baseball
Â
The senior from Sarasota, Fla. opened Army's scoring with a solo home run in the bottom of the first, a tone setter which culminated in a 5-for-5 day with four RBIs, recording the first Army cycle since Tony Capozzi vs. Dartmouth on March 21, 2008.Â
Â
Barr secured the cycle with his first inning homer, a second inning single, a third inning triple and finally a double down the right field line in the fifth, to clinch the feat in just the minimum four at bats.
Â
Joining Barr at the home run party was John McKillop and Josiah Overbeek. McKillop followed Barr's homer in the first inning just three at bats later with a three-run home run, before hitting a two-run homer in the fifth, representing the first career home runs for the sophomore and the fourth individual multi-home run game by a Black Knight in 2026.
Â
Overbeek meanwhile hit his 10th homer this season in the sixth, a solo home run which tied the program's freshman home run record, previously set by Cole White in 2005.
Â
A high-scoring matchup, Army's four-run first answered the three runs Wagner scored in the top of the opening inning. After the Seahawks retook the lead with another trio in the second, the Black Knights jumped back in front for good in the second, with four runs via Barr's single, a William Parker RBI double and McKillop RBI groundout.
Â
Limiting Wagner to one run in the third, Army took a 10-7 lead in the bottom half of the inning, with Barr's RBI triple coming one at bat before he crossed the plate on a wild pitch.Â
Â
Army opened the floodgates in the fifth and sixth innings, with five and three runs respectively. After Barr's RBI double in the fifth set his cycle in stone, Schreck followed with an RBI double of his own before McKillip's second homer Tuesday made it 15-8.
Â
Overbeek's solo home run in the sixth was followed by a Parker RBI single, who would later cross the plate on a wild pitch in the inning to give Army its ultimate 10-run lead.
Â
Left-handed pitcher William Leahy got the start on the mound, pitching one inning. Joe Vaccarella followed in relief, pitching 1.1 frames and earning the win.Â
Â
After Ian Standlee provided 1.2 innings, Jakob Vanderhave pitched the final three stanzas and picked up his first career save, by virtue of his three full innings tossed.Â
Â

Â
Overbeek extended his career-commencing on-base streak to 32 games.

Dubrule made his first career start at second base, having previously made 26 starts this year at third.Â
