Rachel Ross (the former Rachel Leahy) joined the Army West Point Athletic Training Staff in July of 2019.
She currently works with the men’s ice hockey program and has previously worked with the Army men’s rugby, women’s volleyball and softball teams. Ross assists with all Army Summer Sports Camps held at West Point and has also had the opportunity to work with the USA Rugby Junior National teams, providing care overseas during an international tour in 2022.
Ross was named Atlantic Hockey Player of the Week on January 9, 2023 after her pivotal response to a life-threatening injury on the ice.
Prior to her arrival at West Point, Rachel was an Assistant Athletic Trainer at the University of Wyoming, working primarily with women’s soccer and men’s swimming. She also served as a Graduate Assistant Athletic Trainer with the Cowboys from 2016-18 while obtaining her Master’s of Science degree in Health Services Administration with a concentration in institutional leadership.
Ross graduated from Quinnipiac University in 2016 with a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Athletic Training/Sports Medicine and was also a Division I athlete on the acrobatics and tumbling team for four years.
She is a BOC certified athletic trainer, a member of the National Athletic Trainer’s Association, Eastern Athletic Trainer’s Association, New York State Athletic Trainer’s Association and Armed Forces Athletic Training Society. She currently holds certifications in FMS, Graston Technique M1 and M2, Sound Assisted Soft-Tissue Mobilization, CPR/AED, First Aid and is a Corrective Exercise Specialist.
She currently resides in Newburgh, N.Y. with her husband Jeremy and their dog, Benny.
