Men's Basketball Hosts Harvard to Complete Week-Long Homestand

WEST POINT, N.Y. — Army West Point men's basketball (1-2) plays its third game inside Christl Arena on Saturday, with the Black Knights hosting the Harvard University Crimson (2-1).
Army and Harvard last faced off on Dec. 8, 2023, in Cambridge, Mass., with the Crimson earning a narrow 70-64 win over the Black Knights.
The game inside Christl Arena will tip off at 2 p.m. ET on Saturday, with the game streaming live on ESPN+ and the Army Sports Network.
ARMY STORYLINES:
WHAT HAPPENED LAST GAME: Army welcomed the No. 4 team in the nation, the Duke University Blue Devils (3-0) and Mike Krzyzewski ('69) into Christl Arena on Tuesday, ultimately falling to the Blue Devils, 59-114. Jackson Furman led the way for the Black Knights, who ultimately struggled offensively. The freshman finished the night with a game-high, as well as a career-high of 20 points, shooting 53.8 percent from the floor and 55.5 percent from the three-point line. He also added three rebounds.
HISTORY MADE: Tuesday's game went on to set the attendance record for the most fans inside Christl Arena in program history. The final attendance was 5,326 in Army's Veterans Day matchup against Duke, beating the previous of 5,291 set on Jan. 21, 2017, when Army played Navy.
THE SIXTH MAN: Freshman guard Jackson Furman made an immediate impact for the Black Knights, leading the Black Knights' scoring with 17.3 points a game in 17.2 minutes a game. The plebe earned a career-high 20 points against Duke, also a game-high. He finished shooting 53.8 percent from the floor and 55.5 percent from the three-point line. Furman earned 17 points in his first collegiate game, the most a freshman has scored in his debut in 11 seasons and the second most since 2000.
THE WALLET: A role player off Army's bench last season, Kevin McCarthy plays a key role, averaging 11.7 points a game. In Army's game against Maritime, the sophomore sharpshooter scored a career-high 18 points and also added career-highs in field goals made (7), three-pointers made (4), steals (3), and minutes (28). He also tied his career-high in three-pointers made against St. Thomas last Saturday. He earned a career-high four assists against Duke.
THE BOOGEYMAN: Sophomore forward Jacen Holloway balances Army sophomore core, also averaging 11.7 points a game. He finished Army's second game against St. Thomas with a team-high and career-high 16 points and tied his personal and season best in made field goals (5) and assists (2). The sophomore also set career-highs in free throws made (5) and minutes (29). Holloway also earned a career and team-high five rebounds against Duke.
JORNADO WARNING: Jorn Everson played a key role off Army's bench last season and now serves as a primary member of Army's starting lineup. The senior had a strong showing against St. Thomas, finishing with a team-high and season-best 16 points, while adding a career-high seven rebounds in 35 minutes of play, also a career-best. He also had season-bests in field goals made (7), three-pointers made (2) and assists (3).
TATE ON THE BOARD: Junior forward Tate Laczkowski, the tallest player on Army's roster, serves as the biggest rebounding threat for Army. Laczkowski leads Army, averaging 6.3 rebounds a game, earning nine rebounds in his first career start against Maritime and a season-high eight rebounds against St. Thomas. The junior also added four points and one block against Maritime and five points in a career-high 31 minutes against St. Thomas.
CHEF (RYAN) CURRY: Curry returned to the court last Saturday for his third season after serving as a key role in for the Black Knights for the past two seasons. In his first game back, the junior finished with 10 points and added a team-high seven assists plus six rebounds. In Army's game against Duke, he added the second-most points on the team with seven points.
YOUNG, SCRAPPY AND HUNGRY: The Black Knights' roster will look different this season after graduating an eight-person senior class. Now on the 18-man roster, there are five upperclassmen and 13 underclassmen, with nine sophomores and four freshmen. The new freshmen joining Army include Jackson Furman, Dillon Watt, Dylan Benner and Jahaan Green. Before joining the Academy, Furman, Benner and Green each played a year at the United States Military Academy Preparatory School (USMAPS).
HELD IN HIGH REGARD: Team captain, Jackson Mayo, was named USMA's Deputy Brigade Commander, the second-highest-ranked position in the Corps of Cadets, over the summer. The senior started the season scoring six points with two made three-pointers in Army's season-opener win against Maritime.

Scouting the Crimson
- Harvard is 2-1 to start the 2025-26 season, opening with two wins over MIT and New Hampshire before falling to Northeastern in its most recent game on Tuesday.
- Head coach Tommy Amaker is in his 18th season coaching the Crimson. Amaker has 28 years of experience, including coaching tenures at Seton Hall and Michigan, holding a 482-334 overall record and a 4-1 record against Army, spanning all three separate coaching tenures.
- Chandler Piggé is the scoring leader for the Crimson, averaging 17.0 points a game. He also leads the team with 4.3 assists a game and 2.7 steals a game. He also averages a team-high 32.7 minutes a game.
- Tey Barbour is the rebounding leader for the Crimson, adding 5.7 rebounds a game. Barbour is also second on the team in scoring, averaging 12.7 points a game.
- Two other players for Harvard average in the double-digits, with Robert Hinton scoring 12.3 points a game and Thomas Batties II adding 10.7 points a game.
