Men's Basketball Sees Third Straight Loss, Falls to Harvard Crimson

WEST POINT, N.Y. — Army West Point men's basketball (1-3) saw its third-straight loss on Saturday afternoon, falling to the Harvard University Crimson (3-1) 52-75.
Despite the loss, the Black Knights still hold a 16-10 series lead over the Crimson. Harvard extends its winning streak in the series to two straight wins. Army's last win over Harvard came on Nov. 23, 2009, with a 56-53 win over Harvard inside Christl Arena.
Ryan Curry and Jaxson Bell led the scoring for the Black Knights on Saturday, with the duo each adding 11 points.
How It Happened
It took over a minute for the Black Knights to score, with Jorn Everson starting the scoring. Jacen Holloway added a layup to make it 4-4. The Crimson then went on a quick 5-0 run to take a 9-4 lead into the first media timeout.
Over the next four minutes, the Black Knights outscored the Crimson 10-8 to narrow the game to only a 14-17 deficit. Jackson Furman led the scoring in the span, earning six points off the bench. Ryan Curry and Jaxson Bell also added two points during that time.
The Black Knights continued to chip at Harvard's early lead, scoring six points while the Crimson only scored four points to make it a one-point game at 20-21 with 7:33 left to play.
Ryan Curry added a three-pointer with Tate Laczkowski getting his first points of the game through a pass from Jacen Holloway. Holloway also made a free throw.
After the second stoppage of action, the Crimson were able to grow their lead, making it a 29-25 game. Ryan Curry added a second three-pointer and Jaxson Bell added a reverse layup.
The two teams exchanged buckets in the final four minutes of the first half, with Harvard earning a slight 7-6 edge to take a 36-31 lead into the locker room. Jorn Everson reentered the game and scored four of Army's points while Joshua Eli added two points off the bench.
Ryan Curry was the first player to score for the Black Knights in the second half, scoring a deep three-pointer as the shot clock expired. Tate Laczkowski added a layup from a dish from Curry.
The Crimson would go on to score eight points in the first four minutes, causing Army to trail 36-44 with 16:09 left on the clock.
Army continued to battle over the next four minutes, with Jacen Holloway adding four points. Meanwhile, Harvard added another seven points, growing its lead to 51-40 with 11:56 on the clock.
Over the next four minutes, the Crimson went on an 11-2 run, with Tate Laczkowski scoring Army's only bucket in the run. Due to the run, Harvard took a 62-42 lead in the final eight minutes.
The two teams exchanged buckets for the next four minutes, with Jaxson Bell scoring six points in the stretch to add to his career-high in points. Harvard added another seven points, making it a 69-48 game with 4:23 left to play.
In the final four minutes, freshmen Black Knights Dillon Watt and Jahaan Green added two points each for Army. Ultimately, Harvard took the 75-52 win over Army.

- Jaxson Bell finished with a career-best 11 points, going 5-for-6 at the foul line, and contributed one rebound and two steals in 16 minutes.

- Jorn Everson totaled six points and four rebounds with no turnovers in 13 minutes.
- Jackson Furman added six points, all from three-point range, and pulled down two rebounds in 15 minutes.
- Tate Laczkowski scored six points on 3-for-4 shooting and chipped in three rebounds and two assists in 23 minutes.
- Army shot 37.7% from the field and struggled from deep, going 5-for-25 (20%) from 3-point range.
- The Black Knights made just 7 of 12 free throws, finishing at 58.3% from the line.
- Army grabbed 31 total rebounds, including 11 on the offensive end.
- The Black Knights totaled 11 assists, six steals and no blocks. Army also committed 16 turnovers.
- The Black Knights scored 30 points in the paint and produced nine second-chance points. Army also added six fast-break points and received 23 points from its bench.
