Reavey’s Masterpiece Evens Series vs. Holy Cross
March 14, 2026 | Baseball
WEST POINT, N.Y. – Looking to get back into the win column on Saturday vs. the Holy Cross Crusaders, Army West Point baseball needed a spark.
Kevin Reavey answered the call.
The sophomore starting pitcher turned in a hugely effective outing for Army (7-9, 1-1), striking out eight and walking just one as the Black Knights won 5-1 to even the three-game series, and force a decisive rubber matchup with the Crusaders in one day.
Reavey pitched into the eighth inning, going 7.1 frames in total, allowing six hits and a solo home run in the second inning for his only run allowed on the day.
The native of Havertown, Pa. recorded a perfect third and seventh inning, also facing the minimum in the fourth and fifth, thanks to a caught stealing and double play in those respective stanzas.
As Reavey exited he game in the eighth for Robbie Penswick, the Crusaders appeared to be knocking on the door. With Army ahead 3-1, the tying runs were at the plate with one out. However, Penswick induced a double play to end the threat on the fourth pitch to Holy Cross leadoff hitter CJ Egrie.
The Black Knights added insurance in the home half of the inning. Josiah Overbeek and William Parker walked to lead off the frame, and pinch hitter Paul Andrzejewski recorded a sacrifice bunt to reach safely on an E1 to load the bases. Carter Hewitt then followed, with a two-run single up the middle to made it 5-1.
Penswick allowed a leadoff single in the ninth but induced a flyout for the first out of the inning before a double play ended Saturday's contest.
Army never trailed after the second inning. It was in that inning when Holy Cross got on the board first with a solo homer. Not to be outdone, Parker tied the game with a solo homer in the bottom half of the inning.
Looking to take the lead in the third, Thomas Schreck did just that for Army, with a solo home run of his own to make it 2-1.
Three innings later, Overbeek would score Addison Ainsworth with a double off the right center wall, after Ainsworth led off the sixth with a single.
Reavey improved to 1-2 with the win while Penswick picked up his second save of the season.
By the Numbers
105: Reavey recorded 105 total pitches Saturday.
1-for-2: Schreck was 1-for-2 at the plat with a pair of walks.
7: All but two starting position players for Army recorded a hit.
Black Knight Notes
Head coach Chris Tracz kept his lineup largely intact with the same nine players in the batting order. However, the order differed changed in various spot from Friday, and Parker and Overbeek swapped spots in the outfield.
Army's win over Holy Cross snapped a four-game losing streak to the Crusaders. The teams met in last season's Patriot League Championship Series, and were picked to finish second and first, respectively, in the league this year.
The Black Knights allowed two or fewer runs for the third time this year, with the one run allowed the fewest Army has surrendered in a game this year.

The series rubber matchup is set for 1:00 p.m. Sunday at Doubleday Field. ESPN+ will stream the game.
