WEST POINT, N.Y. – Army West Point baseball scored eight runs against the UAlbany Great Danes at Doubleday Field on Wednesday, securing an early finish to its 12-2 non-conference win.

The Black Knights (8-10) only needed six offensive innings to complete their top run-scoring output to date in 2026, in a margin-shortened seven inning game.

For Army, the sudden onslaught offensively clicked in the bottom of the fifth inning. The Black Knights already led 4-2 before the frame, but poured eight runs on in quick succession to take its double-digit lead.

William Parker launched a solo home run to left field with one out, but the serious damage in the inning was done with two outs. After Thomas Schreck scored off an error off the bat of Zac Farrell, David Dubrule poked an opposite field double down the right field line to plate another pair of runs and make it 6-2.

Addison Ainsworth followed one at bat later with an RBI single to the right-center gap, before Josiah Overbeek hit a three-run home run to make it 12-2, the plebe's sixth homer of the year.

Despite the one-sided final score, it was a two-run game into the fifth. After an unearned run made it 1-0 Great Danes in the opening inning, Army tied the contest in the bottom of the inning on an unusual sequence in which a throw back to the pitcher from behind home plate got past the mound, allowing Addison Ainsworth to score from third base on the error.

Army took the lead for good in the second inning on a double steal, in which Jack Quinlan scored, and Dubrule advanced to third on an error in which the shortstop wasn't present at second base to field the throw.

Chris Barr then roped a two-run triple down the right field line to make it 4-1.

Fellow freshman Max Donecea picked up the win in his first career pitching decision. The native of Northport N.Y. tossed three innings, allowing a solo home run while striking out three.

Michael Delph made his second pitching start of the year Wednesday, pitching two innings, striking out three and allowing just one unearned run.

Joe Vaccarella and Sean Newton pitched a scoreless sixth and seventh inning, respectively.

By the Numbers

2-for-4: Schreck—up to the fifth spot in the order—went 2-for-4 Wednesday.

8: Army's eight walks drawn at the plate were a season-high.

2: Ainsworth, Parker and Hewitt each drew two walks. Ainsworth is at six walks drawn over his past two games after working four vs. Holy Cross on Sunday.

3: The Black Knights had a season-high three sacrifice bunts.

In the fifth inning Wednesday, Army had two home runs in an inning for the second time season, previously hitting two homers in the eighth inning vs. Merrimack on March 10.

The 14 batters sent to the plate in the fifth inning were the most Army has had an inning this year, topping its nine-batter inning vs. Merrimack on March 11. Army last had at least 14 batters in an inning on March 2 a season ago at Air Force.

Barr's second inning triple was the first by a Black Knight this year. It was also the Sarasota, Fla. native's 12th career triple, tying him for third all-time in program history.

Army committed no errors in a game for the ninth time this year.

The Black Knights scored 12 runs on just eight hits, the first time in 2026 the team had more runs than hits in a game after doing so five times in 2025, most recently at Navy on May 11 in Game 2 of the team's conference semifinal series win.

Next Up

Army is back in conference play this weekend with a three-game series at Lafayette, playing a doubleheader Saturday before a series finale in Easton on Sunday.

The Black Knights are back at home on Tuesday vs. St. Peter's with a 3:35 p.m. first pitch.
