Baseball Takes on Bucknell at Home

WEST POINT, N.Y. – Army West Point Baseball is home this weekend for a three-game series against the Bucknell Bison.

The teams will square off Saturday for a doubleheader at Doubleday Field, beginning at Noon. A series finale is slated for 1:00 p.m. Sunday. ESPN+ will carry all three games.

Army will look to secure a season-series win over the Bison, after sweeping Bucknell in Lewisburg, Pa. across a doubleheader March 25.

Notes and Storylines

» Army swept April 13's doubleheader at Lafayette to clinch the three-game Patriot League series, with 9-3 and 17-5 wins.

» Army secured a season series win April 17 at Holy Cross. After splitting four games April 5-7 against the Crusaders at home, Army won by run-rule Wednesday for the fourth time in Patriot League Play. The Black Knights had a season-high five home runs in the win, with four different players etching themselves into the home run column. It's the first time an Army team has hit five home runs in a contest since May 13, 2008 against Sacred Heart. Army's 17 hits were tied for second-most for the team in a single game this year.

» William Parker was 5-for-6 with two homers at Holy Cross April 17. He was the first Black Knight to have five hits in a game since Kevin Debrule vs. Bucknell May 22 last year. Parker's two-homer game is the 5th for an Army hitter in 2024. Parker has reached base in 34 consecutive games, and 35 of 36 matchups this season.

» 15 games into Patriot League play, Army has:
- Allowed six or fewer runs in all but one league matchup, and three or fewer runs in nine games across that stretch.
- A league-leading team ERA of 4.80, and 3.30 across conference games.
- A conference-best .255 opponent batting average and have allowed fewer runs (185) than any other league foe.
- Had its starting pitcher go five innings or longer in all but three league contests.

» On the hitting side, Army leads the Patriot League in home runs across all games (41) and league games (17), and in batting average across league games (.316).

Behind Enemy Lines

» Before the season, Bucknell was pegged to finish second in the Patriot League.

» The Bison are 16-20 overall and 8-11 in conference play this year.

» The club defeated Navy on Wednesday in Annapolis and took two of three games from Lehigh at home last weekend.

» Bucknell features two of the top three hitters in the conference by batting average, with Sean Keys and Michael Trommer each batting .368.

Army continues its homestand against Marist for a midweek game Tuesday at 4:30 p.m. Next weekend, the Star Series presented by USAA is renewed when the Navy comes to West Point for a three-game series, beginning 4:30 p.m. Friday.
